MAKEUP 101: Multi-Purpose Makeups Part 2

I skipped June's section for my "Monthly Favorites" since I've basically been using the exact same product. But I'd like to share more beauty tips, this time, about makeup brushes since I am obsessed with makeup brushes and I consider them an important aspect of the makeup world.

If I earned enough money someday, I would purchase all the makeup tools available from Sigma, Morphe, Bobbi Brown, Clozette, Mac, Real Techniques to all of Wayne Goss' brushes.
For this blog post, I would like to feature tips regarding makeup brushes. I was once a stranger to makeup tools, but when I learned how to use them properly, applying makeup became 100 times easier.

We all know the famous flat foundation brush. This is my Marionnaud Flat Foundation brush. I use it to apply liquid foundation since it is densely packed and is made from synthetic fibers. Did you know I use this to highlight and contour as well? I only dab this on the powder (either highlighter or contour) then lightly sweep it on the surface of my face. Plus, the thin edge can help make the contour sharper. I use this brush (instead of a fan brush) when I want my highlight to be more obvious.
Btw, a primer can be applied using a flat foundation brush as well.

The round/flat top kabuki brush is amazing. Sigma's F80 works amazingly when used to apply foundation. At times, when I'm too lazy to grab another makeup brush, I spot clean my round/flat top kabuki brush then use it to set my makeup (by slowly swirling the brush on my face) and apply blush. Sometimes, if I am extra lazy, I would use it to apply bronzer since its blending capacity is fantastic.

The angled top kabuki brush is another famous item. This is my Artist Studio angled flat top kabuki brush and it's my most used brush. Most people use it because it has an angle, perfect for contouring. It has an edge which can be used for a sharper contour. It can also act as a foundation brush. Sometimes, I use it for setting my makeup and blush as well.

I have like 5 lip brushes. On the photo above, it’s the top 3 lip brushes that I like to use. I only use it whenever I prefer mixing my liquid lipsticks. However, these lip brushes can double as a pencil brush. I used it to apply eyeshadow on the outer v, where I want the color to pop and be more intense.

I have this tapered kabuki brush from Gladking. At first, I did not know what it's for, so I used it to apply bb cream. Due to its density, it can easily distribute liquidy formulas without absorbing it. This brush can also act as a contour brush due to its tapered form. If you wish to use it to highlight as well, be sure the brush is not too stiff.

The eyeshadow blending brush is very important. Obviously, people use it to blend their eyeshadow properly, but sometimes it can be used to distribute highlighter on the tip of your nose and other high points of your face. It can also be used to contour your face if you prefer a light and subtle contour. It's blending capacity is limitless, that's why I like using it to blend contour powder, even on the nose.

I love my angled eyeliner brush from Marrionaud. I use it for to blend eyebrow pencil on my brows, then I use the spooly it has on the other end to brush my short and sparse eyebrow hair. After doing your brows, you can the brush to add depth on your crease line, or instead of lining your eyes, you can use this brush to line your lid. It works well especially if you want a slightly sharp finish, but it can still be blended to your liking. After that, you can use it to contour your nose, and then use it to apply eyeliner. You see how useful the slanted brush is?? For a bonus point, you can use it to clean up the edge of your lip or winged liner for a sharper look, just make sure to clean the brush first.

This type of brush (I’m not sure what it’s called) is used for eyeshadow. Chrisspy (@chrisspymakeup) demonstrated it on her youtube video. She used this type of brush in order to achieve that sharp edge of a cut crease. This brush can also be used to clean your lip edges, apply concealer, or even lipstick. The shape of it can easily define a lip, and since it has more bristles than a typical lip brush, you’d apply your lippie faster.

No matter what type of makeup tool you prefer to use, it all boils down to how well it works. Have fun and don't be scared to test out new and random things.
