I believe that all makeup products have multiple purposes. Knowing how expensive it is to purchase numerous products for different reasons, I tried to find a way wherein 1 product can do 3 or more tasks.
I don't mind spending more on worthy products, but I want to utilize all my makeups uniquely. Listed below are my tips and tricks on how to maximize the usage of your products.
A simple concealer (liquid) can act as a foundation/highlighter/eyeshadow base. Most people know this, but did you know you can use it to lighten dark liquid lipsticks? This technique is tried and tested. Just make sure your concealer is matte and hypoallergenic if you're sensitive. If your liquid lipstick and concealer are matte, you will less likely ingest it. I don't recommend doing this to all people, only do this if you want to instantly lighten your lip color.
You can also use your concealer to "clean up" the edges of your eyeliner (for a sharper wing) and lip area (for a cleaner lip edge).
Lipstick is obviously used for your lips. Did you know you can also use lipstick for your eyes? It can act as a base color then apply eyeshadow (powder) on top to seal the color then apply transition color. Matte liquid lipstick can act as an eyeliner. You will not only have a new matte eyeliner, but you will also acquire a unique shade of eyeliner. All you have to do is use your eyeliner brush or angled brush to apply the product, just pretend that the liquid lipstick is a gel eyeliner.
Accidentally bought a darker shade of pressed powder? No problem! Use it as a bronzer instead. You can also use it as an eyeshadow or pair it with a light foundation. But what if you accidentally bought a pressed powder that's too light? Use it as a highlighter instead. Though it won't have that glowy highlighting effects, at least, it will make your skin lighter. Just top it with a pretty highlighter then you're good to go. The same goes for a foundation.
Your mascara can act as an eyeliner. Almost everyone knows this, but did you know you can also use it for your brows? If you want that intense look, use an angled brush then apply it to the "tail" of your brows, not all over your brows. Brown mascaras can act as an eyebrow gel as well, just make sure it matches your hair color.
Your bronzer can act as a contour powder (if you have a light skin tone), eyeshadow (transition color), or to mattify your nude lipstick. If your bronzer is cool toned, you can use it for your brows. I use my eyebrow powder for contour sometimes, and it works great!
A brown eye pencil is typically used for the brows. If you find yours creamy or too waxy (like NYX's double sided eyeliner pencil) it can double as a contour stick. Make sure to blend it well.
A powder blush can be used as a lip color. I have once seen this trick, and all you have to do is apply lip balm first, then use your fingers to spread the powder on your lips. A pressed powdered blush has the ability to mattify a sheen lipstick.
That is all I have, for now. The tricks here is to have fun and make (use) the best out of your makeup products.
The best part about this is that you will carry fewer products in your makeup bag which will make your purse less bulky.
Note: not all of my tips will work well for everyone, but it's worth a try.
